TOPOGRAPHIC Wine Glass Gift Set — Alaskan Maker

The gift you've already given

You're looking for a gift for someone who loves wine. So naturally, you think of a bottle.

It's a good idea. But once you've done it once, twice, maybe three times, you start looking for something different. Something that stays. Something that brings joy in the moment, but doesn't disappear when the bottle is empty.

Not to replace the wine, but to accompany every bottle that comes after.

The Topographic collection

A mountain at the bottom of the glass

The relief is there from the very first glance. Not drawn on the glass, not printed, not engraved afterwards. Moulded into the base of the glass, in 3D.

Everest, Mont Blanc, Matterhorn... each peak has its true silhouette, its name, its altitude. We didn't make a generic mountain just for decoration.

We wanted an object that becomes the talking point at the table before the bottle is even opened.

The wine swirls around the mountain

Swirling wine in a glass is a natural, essential part of tasting. You do it to open the wine up, to observe it, to take your time.

We didn't want the mountain to get in the way of that gesture. It was one of the core constraints of the project: create a striking relief without turning the glass into a decorative object.

So we designed the relief so that the wine flows around the summit. That wasn't a happy accident we discovered later. It was the intention from the start.

The TOPOGRAPHIC glass isn't a gimmick around a wine. It's a proper wine glass, with a mountain inside.

Two years to fit a mountain inside a glass

On paper, the idea is simple: put a 3D mountain at the base of a wine glass.

In practice, it took two years to get the balance right. A relief that's both visible and faithful to the actual peak, while keeping the glass transparent, stable, comfortable to use, and suited to tasting.

Each glass is made from mouth-blown borosilicate. The relief is integrated into the molten glass, then the bowl, stem and base are assembled by hand in sixteen steps.

We could have taken shortcuts: engrave a mountain, print one on, or create a rough shape at the base. That would have been easier to produce, but we didn't go down that road.

The gift starts before the first sip

No wrapping needed. No explanation required: the gift box does the work.

We didn't want a simple protective box. A glass like this deserved to arrive in packaging that made an impression from the moment it was held.

When you lift the magnetic lid, the glass (or glasses) are right there: perfectly seated, truly presented. Then your eye falls on photos of the making process: the fire, the gesture, the glassblower, telling the story of the glass.

That moment, before the first pour, is already part of the gift.

Choose your summit

The choice of peak makes the gift more personal. Mont Blanc can evoke the Alps, a region, a holiday. The Matterhorn, a silhouette you'd recognise anywhere. Everest, the ultimate summit, the idea of pushing beyond your limits. And sometimes it's simpler than that: a mountain you like, a name that resonates, a memory that comes back.

Every peak in the collection has its true silhouette, its name, its altitude. Each person can bring something different to it. That's what makes this more than just another glass: it's theirs.

An object that stays

A bottle marks a moment. This glass can accompany many more.

You bring it out for a good bottle, a dinner, an evening, an occasion that matters. It holds its place because it's useful and unlike anything else you already own.

Borosilicate brings clarity and resilience. To preserve the relief and keep the glass looking its best over time, hand washing is recommended.

The gift boxes can be kept too. Lined up, they form a mountain range on a shelf, in a bookcase, next to a drinks cabinet.

A bottle disappears. This glass will be back on the table.

Made by Makers, for Makers

Each glass is made from mouth-blown borosilicate. The relief is integrated into the molten glass; the bowl, stem and base are assembled by hand in sixteen steps. Hand wash recommended.

To make each peak faithful to the real thing, we start by modelling the mountain. We invested in a 3D printer to validate the relief before creating the moulds, because below a certain level of detail, it just doesn't look like anything. Only once the result is approved do the moulds go into production.
