The waxed canvas is a fabric that has been coated with wax. The goal is to have an ultra-sturdy fabric that can resist tears, stains, and water. If your bag comes into contact with water, there's no risk of your belongings ending up wet. We've also doubled and reinforced all the seams of the ESCAPADE with rivets; it's really tough.
